I'm new to tig welding and I bought a cheap tig welder with some problem regarding the display, I fixed that, but I need to know if it works before i buy more stuff.So the Hf start doesnt seem to work without the gas same as the AC is this because I didnt use argon gas?

Reply:actually I don't believe it is independent. I think you have to have sufficient gas flowing for the HF to actually initiate a welding arc. This is not referring to the HF arc, but the actual welding arc initiation. From the miller web site:Miller Multimatic 255

Reply:I fixed both problems ac was just a setting mistake and the hf starter was due to dirty hf contact points.
