Hey guys I have a 3 in 1 tweco, and I do use the tig feature for mild steel and stainless from time to time. My biggest gripe with this is the pedal completely sucks. At work I have access to a miller dynasty, heck even the everlast tig machines I've tried with upgraded pedals aren't that bad. The main thing that annoys me is not so much the lift tig, its that the pedal seems to have a mind of its own, I've opened it up and looked at it, it seems there is a switch that keeps the arc going and once your done welding your supposed to step or click the pedal again to disengage the arc. Is there a pedal that works in a way where I can just use it like a normal pedal. Such as when I lift completely off the pedal the arc just stops. I know the millers do this even in lift tig mode. Or is it just the limitations of the machine, that it has to use a pedal thats designed like this? Thanks
Reply:Which machine do you have? Does it have remote, 2T or 4T? It may be a machine limitation.-Chris
Reply:its been almost a year since i used my tweco for tig, i know exactly what you are talking about with having to click the pedel to stop the arc.    if i remember right; touch tungsten to piece, press pedal, lift and weld..... to stop weld let up on pedal then engage again for a moment. right? i thought the pedal was good i liked the feel, smooth etc... i believe the issue is with the machine or machine settings i want to say i got it to work as it should by changeing a setting, i cant remember right now but if i get time today i'll look into it. also at the time i got used to it and even liked that it wouldn't brake arc when i let up too far. i was doing low amp stainless countertop work fwiw
Reply:There is nothing wrong with the pedal. It's an ssc pedal. The problem is you have it set wrong. Try 4T or 2t. I think that machine is backwards been awhile since I had it to say exactlyTorchmate 2x2 CNC with Flashcut CNC controlsHypertherm Powermax45 Esab ET220i Razorweld 195 MigRazorweld 200ac/dc TigTormach 770, Tormach xstechRazorweld, Vipercut/Vipermig, SSC Foot Pedal Dealer
Reply:I have a tweco 141i, I use the mig setting mainly for exhaust work or to tack stuff up so I can pulse it at work. I use the tig cause I still don't have enough money to buy a HF tig machine. I guess im used to the way the pedals work at my work place. Even in lift tig mode you touch what your welding, lift up, and when your done welding you just let off the pedal, no need to re-click or re-engage the pedal.
Reply:Does the manual detail any way to change between 2T and 4T operation? The behavior you're describing is the 4T setting on the Dynasty. I'd have to fire up my Dynasty to confirm that, but I'm 99% certain that's the case.-Chris
Reply:Try 2T with the slope turned all the way down......let us know how that works. I have a TA 181i......been a while since I used the tig.......but I think that will work.Last edited by rahtreelimbs; 05-20-2016 at 10:35 PM.
