I need a few pointers on a sa200 I am trying to rebuild. Any advice would be appreciated. 1.When I first got the machine it would weld. Then I had it painted and its not welding, just creating a few sparks. My question is when they painted it they painted over the pc board. Also when I was changing out the faceplate and removing the knobs I knock of the back of the rheostat. Could either one of these keep it from welding.2. Also, after the machine has been running for a little bit the water pump starts leaking around the pulley. Do I need to replace the whole water pump or can i just replace the pulley.

Reply:Personally I think both of your problems will stop it from welding. MAYBE painting the PC board wouldn't hurt anything, but I wouldn't bet on it. I'm not sure what was "knocked off" the back of the rheostat, but I'm pretty sure it is needed. The water pump can be rebuilt, no, replacing the pulley won't stop your leak. http://www.hybriweld.com will have a rheostat, PC board & water pump/rebuild kit. Reply:Make sure all wiring connections are good, clean and tight all over and on the board. The grounding lug bushings and connection on back side of the board need to be clean for a good ground take it loose and clean paint or rust and corrosion off there. Be sure brushes and armature commutator are clean of paint.
Reply:Regarding the water pump issue:Here's a previous thread:http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...22+rebuild+kitI need to rebuild my water pump on my SA200 also - its leaking water in the same spot as yours.Looks like all you need to buy is a seal? All the photos in that thread have been deleted and are no longer accessible. Does anyone know where other photos depicting a water pump rebuild might be located?

Reply:Ok thanks. You are right on with the engine not idling right. I ordered a new pc board and rheostat so we see how works.
Reply:Any chance when they painted it they did not take steps to protect the armature and just painted the air vents and on through to the copper armature?"Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251 Syncrowave 300 30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200 1 short hood SA250 SAM 400 |
