http://weldingweb.com/vbb/showthread.php...ghlight=sp-200mine is just like the one in the line above.when when plugged in the volt gauge on the upper left is always constant...at whatever i had it set at...and theres something inside the machine humming...been having the problem for a few years....itll go away and rear its ugly head a few months laterne ideas?
Reply:Do you have a volt meter and know how to use it safely.?About all you can test is the open circuit voltage at the weld terminals, is it there when the trigger gets pulled? unplug the welder and remove the left side panel.Check around the contactor on the back panel and make sure that no wires are hanging up the contactor. I have seen a wire going down the right side of the contactor get pinched by a metal bracket on the contactor and keep the contactor from closing. If contactor does not close you will not get wire feed or weld voltage. To go deeper I will need to know what is and isn't working. You may even have to borrow a clamp on amp meter.
