Does anyone know whether it's OK to cut porcelain-coated or enameled steel (like on a washing machine or other appliance) with a plasma cutter?
Reply:As long as your plasma has a strong pilot arc it will blast through the coating with no issues. You will have to have clean metal for your work ground clamp. Any Hypertherm unit will work.Jim Colt

Reply:The torch or the consumables will not know the difference between coated steel and plain steel.Jim Originally Posted by KelvinThank you, Jim. Reply:Probably be easier going if you start on the uncoated side, last I checked glass isnt too conductive but does melt before steel. That's my thoughts anyway, Jimcolt knows these machines far better than I ever will.
