I am looking at the 1Torch System with the ATC connector.I recently bought a used Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 101 Plasma and this machine is set up with the ATC connection. There are 75 degree heads and 90 degree heads. SL100 Torch rated at 100 Amps and SL 60 Torch rated at 60 Amps. There is also the option for a 25 foot lead or 50 foot lead. So, what do you recommend?75 or 90 degree head and what are the pros and cons of each?As this machine is rated for 100 Amps, is there any reason for me to consider the SL60....such as easier to handle, move around?I can see the advantage of having a long lead in not having to move the machine around as much, but are there any cons to having a long lead? And finally, should I stay with the 1Torch System...does anyone have experience / opinions with these torches? If these seem like nubie questions, they are. I have wanted a plasma for a long time, but have rarely used one due to the cost.I am excited to now own one and want to make the best choice on torch purchase. Thanks!
Reply:75 degree heads work the best for me. The 1 torch is a good system, electrodes, start cartridge and nozzles are all the same, the only thing is the tips are made for different amps. The SL100 is what you need but some SL60 are rated at 80 amps. If all you can find now is the SL60 you can use it up to the max torch rating until you can get a SL100.www.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Reply:The 75 degree head is great for cutting pipe and steel where a bevel is wanted. Remember ,if you wanna cut some flat plate with the 75 you will need to position your hands and arms to get the proper angle to make up for the 75 head. A 90 degree head maybe easier for a square cut I guess it depends what you are use to using and what you will be cutting. |
