Hey there everyone! I may be buying a Memco CV-300 welder 220v? that is all i know about it, and it is white. Can anybody tell me about the brand Memco?I have no pictures of it, however he has no plug in and has never used it>Thanks in advance!
Reply:Memco = Miller Electric Machinery Co., AKA Miller. I think the CV300 is a power source only (no built-in feeder), and is three phase only.JohnA few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:Sure it's not a CP300? Lincoln made a CV300. It could be the CV is just for constant voltage. CP is for constant potential which is the same thing.
Reply:It's likely a Canadian rebrand Miller Similar to Grainger Acklands and AutoArc.It's probably a rebranded CP 300. Three phase machine. Best guess anyways.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:Hopefully not something made in India.
Reply:thanks guys i will update you all!

Reply:Looks like an XMT300 with a 60 series feeder. They were problematic! I know a place that thought they were getting a good deal on used one... until a circuit board went. Cost about $3000 to fix and I think the new one went out about a year later too. I've heard this isn't uncommon. The feeder is one of the best you can buy but I don't know if I'd take a chance on an XMT300. XMT304's were much more reliable and I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat if it worked good.
Reply:Looks like it might be an XMT 300 and a 60 series feeder. For what voltage the welder will run on see the data plate on the front. It might be a 230/460 or 460/575 or even a single voltage unit. Picture is not clear enough for me to tell. The XMT 300 is an inverter welder, can run on single or three phase power.multi voltage unit autolink if that part is still working. DO NOT buy unless you can see it weld.Make sure it will operate on the line voltage where you are going to use it.If the unit has blown IGBTs, the parts IF still available will cost you over 1200 US.You have to replace the control pcb and both IGBTs.The picture is not a MEMCO CV300. The MEMCO CV300 is a Miller CP300.It is a MEMCO 300 CC/CV which is a XMT300 CC/CV Just remembered were a cross reference was on Miller's X-net site.  The feeder should be a MEMCO MS-62 or MS-64 , same as a Miller S-62 or S-64. S-62 is a 2 roll drive and 64 is a 4 roll drive.
Reply:Yeah, what the guys above said.If you can get it cheap (like $500 or less for all of it) and it works, go for it. The feeder is roughly worth that alone. XMT 300s can indeed be problematic, so it's kind of a roll of the dice. You may use it another ten years without a single issue, you may turn it on tomorrow and let the magic smoke out. Parts for that inverter are getting very hard to find. Unlike Maxtrons, the older XMTs use a number of boards, so the chances of finding used or NOS replacements is slim, and there were several different model revisions, most of which use completely different parts, which cannot be interchanged between model years. I've replaced contactors and petty stuff in them, but if you have board problems, it's as good as junk. You can take what ccawgc said to the bank. If it blows up, throw it in the dumpster after stripping the DRO board, switches, pots and tank caps out first and sending them to me The feeder is a super solid 24 VAC unit and they run forever. Parts widely available and they hold their value extremely well. What do they want for it??Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:thanks guys, he wants $300 it is unadvertised and i am the only one who knows about it. My brother (welding engineer) said to not get it, because of parts. However if this is also a single phase do i have to buy anything to use it towards single phase? also the top part is the wire feed and can that top part be used with a stick welder with a fig converter.I have an old stick welder with a tig converter, is any of this good for me?? i live out of town and it is single phase power line i believe. I could probably get it for 250 or 275... the bottom part do you need it to use with the top part?? What power source do i need for the mig wire feeder top part, does it have a separate power source??Last edited by IslandWeldingKid; 03-05-2015 at 10:33 AM.
Reply:No the feeder has to have a CV power source with a 24 volt circuit to run it. The feeder motor I think is actually DC. If you can get it for $300 or less it's worth taking a gamble on. The feeder is worth at least double that. What MIG gun does it have? Looks like it could be a Bernard which is a good gun. If the machine is shot, it will be a little hard finding another single phase machine to run it that's affordable. XMT304 or a Shopmaster 300 are about the only single phase power sources but you could always sell the feeder at a profit and buy an all in one MIG like a MM212, 252 or similar.
Reply:are the various parts such as drive rollers, tips, cups and other parts even in the welder and on the welder itself... compatible with miller?
Reply:Yes, it is a (re-branded) Miller 60 series feeder, parts are as common as dirt. For $300 grab it, start looking for a XMT304 if/when the 300 doesn't work.A few weldersA lot of hammersA whole lot of C-clamps
Reply:Hell yeah, if you can get the set for three, just buy it..You can run the feeder off a Maxtron 450 too Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:it's not mine yet! however i emailed the owner asking if i could take it for a test run!
Reply:How did that Memco work out?
Reply:No doubt. Enquiring minds wanna know!Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
