I am looking into buying one of these units. Other than its huge size and heavy weight, and 100 amp 220v 1ph service requirement for full amperage use, are there any drawbacks to this unit?I currently just MIG weld, but am looking to TIG, and Stick weld also. Aluminum welding capability is a must. The price is approx $700 including miller watercooler, water cooled torch, and foot pedal. It is a mid 80's vintage unit with high freq, model#330a/bp. Can I realistically get into any other units that will HF weld aluminum and have 180+ amps of power and a water cooled torch for less than $750.Thanks,Brian
Reply:HINot sure if your still looking for a Tig machine, but I'm trying to trade in a 330 aircrafter on a Miller 251 or LIncoln 255. This unit is 1987 and brand new ..never been used.. We lease our shop and it would cost more to wire it in then for me to purchase a smaller more portable unit and use existing wiring. Its the bare machine tho, no cables or attachments. You can check with Airgas, Praxair or Williams industrial in Duluth Mn or Chicago Iron in Ashland Wisc. as I'm taking it to these places this tuesday 3/16/04. To sell or trade a piece of equipment at work requires me to get quotes from 3 or more sources.Steve
Reply:I already bought it, thanks anyway. |
