I've got a 82 black face I'm going through and have a few questions for those in the know. First is where do the two wires from the soleniod go? Next, what three wires go to the voltage regulator and should the regulator make good contact with the frame? What I'm asking is should I grind the paint to shiny metal where the regulator bolts to the frame? Thanks and I'm sure I will have more questions to follow.
Reply:Before you go any further, go here http://weldmart.com/index2.htm and request a copy of their CD that's loaded with information on the SA-200 that no owner should be without.Check out their technical pages as well and all the info on Bill and Kay's site http://www.billswelderrepair.com/SA-200.htmlLast edited by duaneb55; 09-18-2011 at 09:31 PM.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:Does that 82 still have a generator and voltage regulator or does it have the all in 1 altenator. I have and 87 and it has a regular GM altenator, but someone may have changed it before I got It. Also my 68 has a GM 3 wire altenator that I converted, best thing I did with that as the altenators are cheap and readily available also put out good power if you want some aux. lights or other do dads."Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum"Lincoln Idealarc 250 AC/DCMillermatic 251 Syncrowave 300 30A spoolgunLincoln MP210Hypertherm 45(2) LN 25(2) Lincoln Weldanpower 225 CV(4) SA200 1 short hood SA250 SAM 400
Reply:It has a alternator with external regulator.
Reply:duaneb55 gave you what you asked for, except answering your question about shiny metal for a good ground on the regulator. Yes, you do want a good ground for the regulator. Open the website for http://www.billswelderrepair.com/SA-200.html and scroll down to Pipeliner Info, a black box. Click on Machine Schematics. Next click on Lincoln SA 200 Schematics. Scroll down to Original SA 200 w/auto idle & voltage regulator. Hold down on "ctrl" and click the "+" until you have the page large enough to read the wiring diagram.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money. -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches |
