Adjustable band saw material support.

I have a harbor freight horizontal band saw. In order to fit it under my welding table for storage I built a cart for it that sits maybe 8" off the ground.Problem I run into is long stock is hard to support because I find myself grabbing random objects to get the proper height.Came up with this little thing as a possible fix. Going to try and tig weld the entire thing for practice that I desperately need. It stands 5.5" at minimal height and extends up to 8.5" the way it is designed now. Reply:I used some nested square tube to make a support. It is attached under the saw. Because of the slop, I just adjust the support up or down depending on how far out I pull it. It actually works pretty good. Reply:Hey, Crabo - I'm not home, but I think it was just 1", 1.25", and 1.50" square tube. Probably 14 gauge. The trick is the square nut in the ends for the threaded rod to go up and down easily.Brooklyn - it was just some scrap I had. You are correct if I had to buy a full stick of each it would have been costly. As far as weight, when I built the stand for the saw, I used a heavy piece of 2" x 8" (If I remember right) x 3/16" rectangle tube under the saw, so there is sufficient weight to be stable for what I do. It would be simple to have an all thread to go to the floor for support. Reply:This is a little more difficult and expensive if you have to buy a stik of tubing and wheels, but for me it was really worth it.The top of the stands are even with the bed of the saw.  The bar that flips up is the same height as the table.  We often put heavy objects on the stands and roll them around.
Reply:That's a great idea, Crabo.I made my welding table, my burn table, and another long table all the same height for that reason. I can use them to hold long material. Reply:Go buy the HF heavy duty hyd lift table. Handiest tool you'll have. Reply:What would make that work better is a roller so the material doesn't need to slide which can drag or tip your stand. I'm not home now or I would post pics of mine.
