Crappy cast aluminum from China This is the base for a outdoor table that is made from cast aluminum (made to look like cast iron). The wind picked it up and blow it across the yard and broke it in a few places.Now I get to try and put it back together. This is some really crappy cast, welding it has been a learning experience to say the least.These are the settings I have found to work the best so far.3/32" E31/16" 4043 filler15 to 18 CFH150 amps ( using the pedal )150 HZ20 to 25% ENOnly weld a 1/2" then move to another spot, etc, etc. If you get it to hot it will just melt away on you.Got one piece almost done and a lot more to go.Some pictures Attached Imageswww.georgesplasmacuttershop.comPlasma Cutter and Welder Sales and Repairs--Ebay storeTec.Mo. Reply:Looks more like "Pot Metal" to me....All that white crap and how you described it acted tells me so....Sucks don't it........zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:I weld on that stuff all the time for the area powder coater. I've found sand down in the aluminum as well as holes from poor castings. I usually spool gun it and don't have any trouble.
