I was installing hand rails at a retirement home last week and heard some serious cussing. Guys were pouring concrete and were supposed to stick a stainless "sign" of sorts, into the concrete. They were cussing because it started to fall apart as they were moving it toward the concrete. They had to pull it out and go ahead and pour out with out it. The PM asked me if I could fix it and I took it to the shop. Who ever made it had put it together with tiny little tig welds, I'm sure because they didn't want the heat to show through. The PM said not to worry about it as he would have to have some one polish it out any way. Thank goodness he didn't ask me to.I rebuilt it completely. The print showed it to be made of 1/2 and the whole thing was 1/4" stainless. It showed every thing to be stainless and only the top was stainless, the part in the concrete was carbon steel. Some body took short cuts and it cost big time. I welded every thing back with 3/32" 308's rods. Attached Images |
