I have an older Millermatic 130 MIG welder and I got the liner hung up in the gun.  It is a GA-17C gun that Miller has since replaced with the M-15.  The problem is that a new M-15 costs more than my welder is worth.  Could someone tell me where to find a compatible gun for cheap, used is fine.  I found an M-10 on ebay for 120 bucks but I don't know if it will work with my machine.  I would also like a gun that I can buy a teflon liner for.  I'm in the middle of a project and need something soon.  Thanks, Joe
Reply:Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that any Miller-style gun will work on that welder, which means that any Tweco gun with a Miller connector should also work.  I see them all the time on ebay relatively cheaply.-Heath
Reply:I think halbritt is right, any gun with a miller connector will work.  I think this one will work (see below).  Send an e-mail to miller customer support and they can tell you for sure.  Used guns appear all the time on ebay.  Just type in "mig guns".  Adapters are available for most major types of welders also, but I dont know the prices on these things.http://cgi.ebay.com/Miller-C-4015-Ro...QQcmdZViewItemLast edited by smithboy; 08-10-2005 at 12:49 PM.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:Thanks for the replies.  Well the local Miller dealer gave me a used gun, and it looks like an M-15.  I think he felt bad when I walked in with my disaster.  I would still like to keep the GA-17C as a spare, if I can get it repaired.  Does anyone know of a shop that I can mail my old gun to, who will cut about a foot of lead off and re-attach the gun?  Thanks again.
Reply:Hey man,you can do it.  Now that you have a gun that works, take that old sucker apart and rebuild it.  Aint but about 10-12 parts.  There are several places online to get parts for just about any miller item.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.

Reply:Sorry about the confusion, halbritt.  I was talking about the gun when I said any miller item, not the feeder parts.  Rebuilding a gun is not that big of a thing.  You probably know that, though.  You can get gun parts for miller guns online at welding-direct.com, weldingdepot.com and a lot of other places.  (this is not an endorsment, just saying...)Some guys I have talked to online have actually snagged up some really nice guns that had tears in the insulation or big burns and shortened them to use with aluminum to avoid having to use a push-pull or a gun.  They say they can get good performance from an 8-9 foot gun, where they get birdnesting on anything much longer.  It's a rig-up but, it's a really cheap alternative.  Or they use them with flux core and lots of electrical tape. But if you want internal parts for most major brand feeders that are still supported I dont know if these online places carry much. I have a guy here in atlanta that I get more special-order parts from.  I havent used them much, cause my stuff has been pretty reliable.  I think they just buy directly from the manufacturer, however.  The name of the place is McCullough Electric (404) 525-0821.  They are NOT a discount place, but they will generally be able to get what you need.  You may have someone much better, much closer.  They are one of the factory authorized service centers around here, one of only a handful.  I bet in California, there are lots of these places.Last edited by smithboy; 08-12-2005 at 09:53 AM.Smithboy...if it ain't broke, you ain't tryin'.
Reply:There are a couple of local places here with decent pricing like Praxair and Airgas.  There's also a couple of places that charge retail plus 10% or so which really irks me.  I've started buying stuff from weldingsupply.com recently.  They seem to have better pricing on most things if I'm not in a hurry. That's a cool trick with the shortened gun.  I'll have to give that a whirl sometime.-Heath
