I'm totally new to welding but I want to get into it. I'm going to be welding up 3 go kart frames soon after I buy my welder. I have a neighbor that welds for a living and a good friend that has done quite a bit of automotive welding (he's telling me to go for the tig) after reading on here for a few days I've come to think the mm210 is better for me. They can be had with the 3035 spool gun off of ebay for around 1700 shipped, about the same as the 180.I want to do some aluminum welding in the future and once I get the hang of it weld up a small 2 seater off road buggy with a street bike engine. I've done research on all the welders I'm thinking of and it looks like the 210 is probably the best bet for me, just wanted to hear some backing from the pro's. Thanks for any suggestions.
Reply:I have MM210 with the 3035 spoolgun and i love both they work excellent. If i was starting out i would look to mig, thats what i did when i started. Dont know your experience level. Tig is beautiful but pretty slow. The one thing with the spoolgun for aluminum is it is near impossible to weld thin aluminum (least for me and most welders i have met). Miller told me about that when i bought it so i expected it.
Reply:I got the 210 and did my first weld ever today. Not great but it's fun and I can't wait to learn how to weld good.
