Just an FYI. Canadian sa200's don't have code numbers and are modeled as K6090. They are identical to the L5171 except for a code number. I own 2 canadian machines and neither have code numbers anywhere. I need face plates but couldn't find any anywhere. This drove me nut for almost 2 years looking. After many emails I called Lincoln technical. I was put through to a woman who looked after obsolete units. She looked into K6090 face plates only to find none anywhere and didn't know of any aftermarket. The reason was so few canadian units made they didn't feel a need to make many spare faceplates. It was her that told me about the lack of a code anywhere on the machine. For technical info you can only ball park by serial number. I down loaded 3 different manual sets to match what i have (did that at work, thats alot of paper and ink). Looked into a sign shop making new face plates but they wanted $200 each so I bought L5171's instead. Still hoping to run across proper ones.
Reply:Sorry if this is a stupid question as I know very little about SA200's. Aren't all SA200 face plates the same other than color? I mean amp settings etc. are all the same and in the same place aren't they? If this is the case then could you not just order one off ebay? Please correct me if I am wrong it's the only way I will ever learn sinse one day I would like to be able to own a SA200.
Reply:there are several different plates, depending on age. gauges and switches change, and if you get real old, the short hoods have 4 gears not 5. I know not about Canada.Bruce DeLaetHeavy Equipment Mechanic and Welder1948 SA-200 short hood1949 LincWelder 1801963 SA-200 red faceMiller S-32-P
Reply:The Canadian faceplates are indeed different. No place for a code. Instead of L5171 they are C5171. Manufacture shows Canada. Can't find pics of mine and I am away from home on a job this minute but here is one for an example. Reply:Here is a closeup of mine I finally found. The serial number is different too. No "A" and the numbering system differs. Only way to know the year is to contact Lincoln Canada.Hmm, how did this become two separate posts?Gordie -- "I believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." |
