Age of welder

Is there a place to look up the age of a welder uesing the serial num?

Reply:Every manufacture uses a different system.Lincoln U1 country & plant, next two are year, next two are month, rest are sequence.Miller you can go to their web site, look up the owners manual  and if the welder is not to oldLA and newer it will give you the date it was last tested at the factory before shipping.Or go to a LWS and get the parts booklet and find the serial number page.Or you can post it here or send it to me in a PM.If you are buying an old lincoln I have to look it up in a table.
