Folks , Been looking for a used horizontal band saw for quite sometime. Wanted American made. Decided to go with Grizzly buy My son found a used FMB Phoenix (made in Italy but seems to be a high quality saw) at an auction and purchased. Got it home and decided to cut a piece of 4x4x 1/4 tube with it before I cleaned it up. The coolant pump does not work. Contacted the Distributor and they want $275.00 for a small pump plus tax and shipping. Does any one have any idea as to where to find one more reasonable priced? Richey Attached Images
Reply:How much cutting do you do?I would just run the saw dry. My saw has fluid capabilities and I run it dry all the time.
Reply:VPY Thats a good question. Im retired and I just needed the saw for some repairs on the farm and projects. I was fortuate enough to get 8 new M42 x1 1/16x 12tpi included with the saw. I think I may just try it for a while cutting dry and determine how many cuts I get per blade. Thanks Richey
Reply:I meant VPT need to put my glasses back on.

Reply:Guess I couldnt see the forest for the trees. Got some 2 in and 2 1/2 diameter hydraulic cylinder shafts to saw for pins but I am going to anneal it before I try to cut it. My son really lucked out on the band saw and I was really proud to get it. Richey
Reply:You can get a universal submerged coolant pump like this one http://www.wttool.com/index/page/pro...shopping=truee We have had somthing similar in our HE&M saw for the last decade or so.
Reply:Ben Iv Thank you very much for this link. I had never heard of Wholesale tools. For this cost I think I will order one of these tomorrow. I do appreciate you responding to my request. Richey
Reply:I am guessing you have a northern tool in your corner of the woods, but they sell a electric pump for the parts cleaner bins for around 30 dollars that should work well. It might be a little higher volume that what is normally on there but they are designed to work in a dirty environments. Nice score on the saw by the way. |
