Hi all,I have an older L-tec 225 Mig welder and spool gun. It works fine. The spool gun came with a diffuser that has stripped out threads where the tip screws in. My local welding supplier has one half of the diffuser. I had to hunt down the other half. Apparently these came in two versions. A one piece and a two piece diffuser. The advantage to the two piece is that the tip part separates from the main body allowing one to replace it should the threads get damaged as mine is.I bought two bottom halves from the WS and they told me "good luck" finding the other half. I ordered a pair of the other half off Ebay. I hate to have to scrap the old one as it is in very good shape otherwise. Is there any way I might be able to salvage this diffuser? Could I use some type of high temp solder and cut some threads in it?Anyone else do this? Its not a major project by any means and my replacements will arrive any day now but as I said, I hate to throw it out. Every dollar counts for me. Maybe I could get some oversize tips and get them to wedge into the diffuser???Thanks for any suggestions,Tony
Reply:Your best bet is probably too convert to something like Bernard Centerfire consumables. They make adapters for many brands. Your LWS sales guy is probably clueless, too lazy to research it, or both. If a cross reference is not in his book then he says it doesn't exist. Got a picture of the gun and threads?Last edited by soutthpaw; 05-21-2015 at 12:44 PM.Tiger Sales: AHP Distributor www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P, Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.
