I am new to this mig welding and was wondering how I get a flatter bead so I don't have to grind so much.I am using the millermatic passport and it says to set voltage at 4.5 and wire feed at 50,I am using 0.30 wire with 75 argon 25 co2 on 1/8" material(mild steel).Your input would be greatly appreciated.Nobody moves nobody gets hurt(safety first)millematic passportmiller 375 plasmacutter
Reply:Hey falconblack,In my mind A nice bead showing (on that reare occassion I get one) isn't that bad, But I know a lot of folks need or like that flat look. With 1/8th and .030 you are right on that boundary of needing the .030 for the penetration but the fill rate is pretty high. Try, if you aren't already;Doing a push,A little more of a weave, moving a little faster,More gap in the joints to get the filler in there,2lbs of .025 for a comparison.
Reply:Thanx Sandy the bead was flatter when I pushed and sped up a little.I was welding on a butt joint with vey little space.Much better now ThanxNobody moves nobody gets hurt(safety first)millematic passportmiller 375 plasmacutter |
