Being the old portly fellow that I am, and with the temperatures on the rise due to summer time in Alabama, I have a terrible time with sweat getting in my eyes. I don't have enough hair to absorb it on my head and I wear glasses which seem to carry it right to the corners of my eyes. I can wear a cap, bandana, or do-rag but they only help for a little while until they get saturated.  Any of you guys have the same problem and have you found the solution?GraysOrnamentalIron.com
Reply:Try a sweat band, it may help.

Reply:I keep 4 or 5 welders caps in the freezer in my shop and change them often.  Wring the out before you put them in or they'll be pretty stiff when frozen.
Reply:I use a fan to keep air moving on me. Out on the sites ,in a lift, in my shop etc. Cheap and easy I also cut up my old shirts to use as bandanas. Reply:Stop drinking water. That'll teach your body to stop sweating.
Reply:But seriously, try one of these. A bunch of guys were getting them at my last jobsite while we were welding preheated super heavy wall chrome in the boiler. You can direct it right at your head and not bother the weld, AND you can plug your power tools into it. They are about $60 on average.
Reply:Some of us sweat more than others - don't know why, but I hear there are health benefits like expelling toxic elements, kills viruses and bacteria ... keeps your pours clean.  The problem is that it can be a nuisance - especially if you wear glasses. Mine fill up around the rims which eventually gives the world an aquatic view. My solution is old socks .... stitch toe to top and slip around the head - ring out once in a while and you are good to go.

Reply:Fifty-five or sixty years ago, when air-conditioning was not yet a standard household appliance in the Midwest, the family would take a summer trip from Seattle to Lee's Summit, MO to visit grandparents and uncles/aunts. Sometimes even the nights stayed so hot that it was hard to get to sleep, or would have been but for a trick my mother had grown up with there during the Depression.  We kids slept out on a bug-screened porch, on cots, in our shorts, with no other bedding than a top sheet and a pillow. The last thing, as we hit the sack for the night was good ol' Mom bringing out our top sheets, which she had soaked with water in a bathtub and wrung out.  When she first laid that damp sheet atop my mostly bare skin it was a shock  .  .  .  but only momentary, and then, aaahhhhhh, slow evaporation and blessed cool relief!!!So last weekend, with the Northwest sweating through two record-hot days, and with this fat old man having the brutally hot job of welding a big patch in the bottom of a big dumptruck bed that could have fried eggs even before I laid any beads, I used my greatly-missed mother's trick of old. Took off my T-shirt, soaked it, wrung it out, and put it on before donning my leather sleeves and gloves. Did the same with my welder's cap; soaked it and wrung it out before putting on my helmet. I still sweated, still had to take off my helmet and mop my face and forehead with a damp washcloth after every long pass or two. And a few times during the day I had to take off, re-soak, and re-wring-out my shirt and cap. But Mom's Depression-era "air conditioning" trick made the job at least bearable. Thanks again, Mom.Alabass, as an old Midwest boy yourself, I bet you remember this old trick, and are smacking your forehead right now!!Last edited by old jupiter; 06-11-2016 at 01:06 AM.

Reply:I sweat a lot from the head, I also wear glasses and I am almost bald (made it to grey first, but only just!)  I dont muck about, I have a towel handy and keep mopping my head and brow, it helps but it doesn't solve the problem. You think if they can make some Hollywood starlets chest and but bigger, they could make a blokes head stop sweating, but apparently there isn't the same sort of money in sweaty bald heads...... so it hasn't happened yet!

Reply:I have used the little sponges with a rubber band attached that you put on your forehead.  We are usually given these on jobs when it really gets hot.  They seem to work pretty well and don't cost much."The reason we are here is that we are not all there"SA 200Idealarc TM 300 300MM 200MM 25130a SpoolgunPrecision Tig 375Invertec V350 ProSC-32 CS 12 Wire FeederOxweld/Purox O/AArcAirHypertherm Powermax 85LN25
