gas bottle exchange

I just bought a 80cf bottle from ebay new for $175 shipped. My both local gas places wanted almost $300 for a 80cf filled. I have two gas companies here in panama city fl that i know of. Both said they have no problem in exchanging the new bottle for theres. they do not refill only exchange. I was wondering if anyone had any problems with getting a cylinder for lets say airgas and trying to exchange it at nexair or the other way around? Airgas website says $45 for refill and i dont remember what nexair charges cant find a price on there site.Last edited by Nova; 04-12-2015 at 04:46 PM.
Reply:First, I'm curious if that new eBay bottle came with threaded neck ring and screw on protective cap?...And proper valve?..If so, LWS usually will happily accept it into their inventory.As far as will your local gas suppliers accept bottles for swap if they display neckrings stamped with other company ownership?, It simply depends on that particular location if what they do today is likely to change tomorrow.

Reply:Here is a link to the one i bought. airgas said they have no problem exchanging the new bottle. but they said i will be getting a used bottle. Im ok with that because its still $50-80 cheaper then if i would have bought the used bottle directly from them. I will be fallowing soutthpaw on how he does it. Reply:Nova, if that new bottle arrives as it is pictured and described, you will have NO trouble swapping it for full bottle at any gas supplier I know of, so chose the one you prefer to deal with over time.Gas suppliers suffer huge expense adding new bottles to their distributable inventory , where they have to buy the bottles new and have their neckrings installed....This one seems to come with blank threaded neckring and cap and proper certs and valve, so YES, you can believe they want it for swap where usually they epoxy thin steel neckring stamped with their company name and it then becomes part of their inventory for MUCH less than if they bought it......all you want is gas and troublefree swaps, huh? So it looks like you got it.
