Any gotchas with Syncrowave 180?

I am looking at a used Syncrowave 180.  I have never picked up a tig torch, but want to learn.  Would this be a good unit for me?  I notice this has been replaced by the Syncrowave 200...are there any features the 180 doesn't have I should be concerned about?Just looking for some advice.  What would be a good price on a like new unit?

Reply:the new 200 also gives you an auto ajust post flow, witch could save you some gas on the thin stuff.like Tail said the used $$ verrys with each unit and location, keep in mind its a big heavy unit if it needs to be shipped. you will also need a 60 amp breaker to run her on.check to see if there is any warentee time left and keep in mind you can get a new unit for about $1800 so make shoure the savings make the used unit werth getting, some times its better to save a lil longer and go new. summer is here, plant a tree for mother earth. if you dont have time or space, sponcer some one else to plant one for you.feel free to shoot me a PM or e-mail me at [email][email protected] i got lots of time.
Reply:i run mine fine on a 50amp breaker. I also never use the machine in full output.I would say if you plan on doing very thin work alot then get the 200 for it's pulser.....I just got a used 180sd 3 months ago and I love it. This is my first tig and It's been stellar to me....My best recommendation would be to check the vin# to see what year the machine is and to check the "arc timer" on the display and it will tell you hours,mins. and seconds that the machine has run. Kinda like an odometer on a car. I got lucky and my used machine only had 33mins on the clock when I bought it. I was very lucky I got the 180sd runner with a tank and everything and a sprectramatic 625 plasma for $2500.here is an example on what I did with my 180sd ...... this was my first try at this too....
Reply:There is a guy in my area selling a 180 with only 10 hours, foot pedal and a large bottle of argon for 1000. I think 1200 is a good deal though.Oh, and nice touch with the soda cans.Bill
