Yamaha 50hp outboard block repair

Got a couple questions before i respond to my customer that has a cracked engine case that needs repaired . so from what i have researched so far they used a propriety alloy for the engine case ydc-30 alloy i have turned up no info on this alloy ands its weldability. If anyone has done. Reply:Some Yamahas (same as mercury) are Magnesium. I can't quite imagine where that is. Is it just an external water jacket?

Reply:Find the piece(s) that broke out and see if you can puddle, and add aluminum filler.  Can't imagine Yamaha would be too forthcoming with repair info on their engine cases.  Probably just have to go for it. The way I look at it - it can't get much more broken.....
Reply:If I remember that construction, is that just a water coolant cover? Or is it actually part of the block?

Reply:Just wondering what's different about that filler you used. Why was it the better choice for this job?  I've repaired a lot of outboards. Mostly skegs and cavitation plates. Don't recall doing any crankcases.  I've always used 4043. I tried 5356 once because Zap said 4043 was for billet  5356 was for cast.  5356 was too brittle in my opinion.
