Reply:So,Here's the deal. The 7' fcAW GUN (K126)??, is setup with a 5/64 liner, tip and drive rollers.I carried it in the shop, hooked the power cable to the negative port on my Invertec 275, ground and volt clip to my metal.Invertec was set on 200amps, and Pulled the trigger, the welder clicked, and the volt dial on the ln-22 shot over and went over the 40volts on the dial.Pic. So,I read this sign.So I turned the welder down to so and so amperage.
Reply:So,at the about 30amps, the ln-22 dial went to about 20volts.The wire fed. there was just enough to feed the wire about a ft.The machine arced and sparked. So,In order to weld with this ln-22, I need a CV power source that I can set the voltage. Is that correct?Let me know what you guys think of it, or if you need more pics....~John
Reply:This is dissapointing.....
Reply:Ln 22 should be voltage sensing and not require CV. is there a CV/CC switch somewhere? I haven't been near one since the early 80s.
Reply:Based on the information available, yours is before the code #7800 so is for CV power source only.(Says it has to be above #7800 and welder has to have max OCV 70 volts with low ripple)http://www.lincolnelectric.com/asset...oln3/im282.pdfLast edited by MinnesotaDave; 07-13-2014 at 10:43 PM.Dave J.Beware of false knowledge; it is more dangerous than ignorance. ~George Bernard Shaw~ Syncro 350Invertec v250-sThermal Arc 161 and 300MM210DialarcTried being normal once, didn't take....I think it was a Tuesday.
Reply:Yeah. My buddy has a idealarc sp200, with mig gun and spool gun.I'll be going up to his place this week, and I'll buy a roll of 5/64 fcaw wire to run in it.What wire should I buy??Anyone guess what I payed for the machine, tweco gun, and stick leads???John~

Reply:211 is a good general purpose wire. Kind of a continuous 7018. ive used tons of it on heavy equipment repairs.
Reply:Ok,I'll prolly go to weld air or air Liquide this week and pick up a roll.A 25 lb spool is what fits this machine right??How useful will 5/64 wire be??John (fcaw and big wire noob)
Reply:Im not sure how adaptable your machine is, but the ones I worked with way back used 60lb coils. Yours may may take a spool with a 2" center.
Reply:Oh, the 5/64s wire, 1/4" and up you should be ok. Its some hot stuff, protect your knuckles, they will burn.
Reply:Yes,This machine has a 2" hub, and 8"-12" capacity.I'll buy a spool of 211 and 212.I totally forgot about my ranger 8, it goes up to 25volts.I'll do some testing, and as always, get done pics. Thanks 12v71,Great tips...John.
Reply:Don't worry about the LN-22 not feeding with too much voltage. When the LN-22s first came out, they would only accept 48-volts. When we had to run them on Miller engine drives they would not feed at all! But when you strike an arc they will go into over ride, and feed anyway. We had to get out of the habit of breaking the wire off at the contact tip. No way to feed the wire. You could remove the contact tip, and pull the wire out. Or remove the little ground clip, and lightly rub it on the welder's ground clamp and the wire would feed out enough so you could start welding again.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400

Reply:I don't know if you have enough machine for 5-64 wire. I think 068 would be a better choice.

Reply:Sorry Dave.Been posting from my phone for the last little while. It's kinda slow to....Poor seeing too.Fleetwood haha.CEP,This machine has the 2" arbor.John.

Reply:These are the pie pans that go to my LN-25, pretty much the same as an LN-22. Also some 30-year old .068 NR-211 I found in my dad's barn. Ran this plate in the flat position. Reply:So,Can I take the pie pans off, and run a 10 or 15lb spool just the same?
Reply:Maybe! I don't know, never tried it.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400I'll see if they fit.Thanks.~John
Reply:Ok gents,Need some opinions.I was on the phone with my lws, and getting pricing for parts, wire, liners etc.Just the .068 drive rollers for my model of ln-22 would be $80.And they can not get a .068 liner for my gun.I would have to buy a $400 dollar k126 gun with .068 liner.A 25lb spool of nr212 was $130.Opinions on the course I should take with this machine. Thanks,~John
Reply:Check this site out for good prices on drive rolls. https://weldingsupply.com/cgi-bin/br...alogs.pl?UNDEFDON'T change the liner! I run anywhere from .045" to 5/64 wire in the same liner.Dont pay any attention to meIm just a hobbyist!CarlDynasty 300V350-Pro w/pulseSG Spool gun1937 IdealArc-300PowerArc 200ST3 SA-200sVantage 400
Reply:If I remember correctly the drive rolls for an LN-25 also fit an LN-22. http://weldingsupply.com/cgi-bin/spi...|1|341 |
