I'm not sure whats going on.. All last week I was welding steel @ 200 or so amps..No problems at all..Yesterday I finished up a drum...Went to do a little side job...alum..When I went to switch the machine to A.C. ...The lever was "stuck" on D.C. ..I got it to move to A.C. but now it don't work..All I get is a little spark like there is no ground..Sorta like when you zap yourself for laffs...Put it back to D.C. Same thing..It will work D.C. but now you have to scratch start the tungestion the first time..After that it's fine..But still no A.C. What do we think???...zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:It could be oxidation on the contact points inside the machine. The way you explained the seletor lever as being stuck in the DC position would support that hypothesis. It might be a matter of opening the bad boy up and polishing up the contactors inside. When I used to repair test equipment for the Air Force, a lot of switches and potentiometers would go untouched for years, and as soon as someone switched it out of its resting position of so long, things stopped working properly. Many times a bit of alcohol, and some exercising of the switch would extend the life for another calibration cycle, and sometimes we just had to order the part and switch it out. Wouldnt hurt to take a look inside.Miller Syncrowave 200Hobart Handler 140Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 38E-Z Tube BenderPlasma Cam DHC2

Reply:Always fun to gut something for the first time! Qucifer is probably correct. Replace the switch if needed. City of L.A.
