Since making this one. I've gotten orders to make a couple more! I'm also fixing to put them up on ebay. But I'm not really sure what to sell them for. That's where If any of you guys could help me out that would be great. I've never had a business and don't have a clue as how to figure something like that.I have $1.90 in the metal and 1-1/16" welding rod and the amount of gas and electric it took to burn up less than 1 rod. About $1.50 in primer and paint & $0.40 in felt pads. So when it rests on the counter or where ever it won't scratch anything. It took about an hour or so to make.If someone has a formula that they would like to share that would be great.Thanks for anyone's time in looking and trying to help Attached Images

Reply:That looks wonderful...I would stick with a price of under $20 US...seems to be a sweet spot for most gifts. If you start getting good demand I am sure that you will be able to streamline the process via the old Henry Ford concept and develop some jigs or methods to drive profit. Heck if you have kids this is a great time to teach them how to become entrepreneurs (hey kids help daddy paint the wine racks while daddy swills on some Zinfandel that he bought with the profits). Multiple bottle holders (3 or 4), like Zap said, seem to find their place on people's countertops as well so go for it!

Reply:What I do is calculate what I want per hour. In my case I charge 75 bucks an hour. I add the cost of material X's 2. So if 5bucks in materials, I charge 10. Now in this case, 85 bucks plus s and h is crazy. But as someone already said....you nee to increase production. Making one is time consuming, but if you prep all your metal to make 10 units, you will find that it takes less time in the cumulative than if you prepped metal, built one, prepped metal, built one and so on. You save time by cutting to length many pieces, bending many pieces and painting many pieces all at the same time. Now, if you are doing this as a side hobby and not a life sustaining business, you could very well drop your labor cost from what mine is. Reply:I would think Ebay would be tough for something like that. The under $20.00 idea would probably work. But.... why bother really. Unless you really like making them. That thing looks good in my opinion. I wouldn't hesitate to ask $40 or more for it (them). Sell it on ebay or at a cheap price and you get the people looking for a deal. Put it somewhere where people will buy it for what it is, not for how cheap they can get it.Just think, if you sell them for $16. That means you spend three hours a day for $48 minus your expenses. That's great if you can sell them EVERY DAY!!!! AND!!!! you don't mind spending a large portion of your evening making them.I'm not trying to rain on a parade here in my first post, I'm just giving my .02.Again, that is a nice looking piece there. I don't think you should go for cheap. Nice work
