Just wanted to stop by and give an update about myself. I finished school with deans list and my 6G cert ( got it on my second pipe first attempt and test ) and landed a job within a week of putting in an application to northrup grumman shipbuilding in Newport News VA.Since being hired and starting this week I haven't made it out of orientation and I have been moved into a higher position so things look good. That being said for those who are looking for something better that has meaning and a sense of pride Northrup Grumman is looking to fill another 1000 positions just as this location so regardless of your skill level I encourage you to come help me build the Gerald Ford aircraft carrier.

Reply:Congrats! I was lucky enough to get to go aboard the USS Nimitz when she was compleated in Newport News in the 70's and my father was stationed there for the Navy durring her construction. Reply:Grumman has about 50 positions here in Yuma at the Proving Grounds. Harrier repair, some weapons control & testing positions & such. We will be getting 88 F-35's in the next couple years too.YPG uses a lot of military contractors. Reply:My initial schooling was through Advanced Technical Institute in Virginia Beach and I liked it allot. If you go you should get morning class for Ernie B or Rick R and if mid day class then Rick R, both have some excellent experience and knowledge. Additional schooling starts Monday at the yard and there is also apprenticeship schooling available soon.Nope there will be no pictures from me from inside any part of the shipyard because there's a reason why there are Marines patrolling certain area's with fully loaded M16's and very specific orders on shooting and asking questions. Details as to what I do won't be forthcoming until I know what I can and can't say and frankly I don't want to risk getting my security clearance.Pay wise for me its a great start and puts me nearly back to where I was 5 years ago at my old job which allowed me to live comfortably. Pay for new hires goes by experience, department, and in part on how you sell yourself in the interview. Opportunity wise there are allot and I can tell anyone more if they want so let me know.

Reply:No pics so far but what I had was a 65 New Yorker 4 door with a 413 dual plane carter carb 4bl steel crank and a 727 auto. Burgundy on burgundy cloth and leather interior power bench steering and brakes. Am radio with factory revurb unit still in it as well as the original spare and jack assembly and the headlight glass cover assembly and the certa card plus the build and trim sheets.
