Jackson helmet question

well im gonna get a good lid and decided on a nexgen thing im trying to figure is looking on jacksons sight the now have it listed as the w60* nexgen everywhere else has it listed as just nexgen for around 300 couple places ive found the helmet listed as w60 nexgen is closer to 400 wondering if the w60 is a newer model or if its the same as the others and just listed at a higher price elsewhere anyone know ??? 350P 30A spool gun cut master 51 syncro 250 other stuff " take a dog off the street and make him prosper and he will not bite you sad the same cannot be said for man" i didnt use punctuation just to piss you off
Reply:im not sure of the right answer, when you look on the jackson website and you write w60 you have a choice of 2 helmet with different lens!and when you look on the page to see all their AD helmet you have wide range of different W*** between W30 and W60.No information about that W on the website, you'll be better to write them a e-mail and ask them directly, i'm pretty sure that if its a W60 it doesn't mean more recent, it should be about the compatibility or just a different lens model!i'm curious , if you find your answer come here and tell us!i bought mine 2 years ago it was a Jackson Nexgen lens with HSL 100 helmet its was about 350 on ebay! here in canada in a LWS its almost 450 or 500$ , i think i saved a bit haha!Last edited by LayoutMan; 05-06-2012 at 01:46 PM.Calculator > Bevel Square

Reply:The W60 is also called the truesight and looks like one helluva nice lid. Its on my shopping list. Lws had one last time I was in, it was ordered for another customer - I got lucky and he came in while I was loading rods and let me demo it in exchange for him trying it with my welder. I had a little chunk of 2 inch plate in the back of the truck and he wanted to see what it was like to run a 'big' machine. Nice amber color lens - not really gold, more like the brown you get with the old blue-blocker sunglasses. Nice clear optics that you would expect on a top tier hood and most important (imho) the new headgear. I have a big head, 7 7/8 stetson, and I get ONE click on my miller elite with a thin comeux cap. The new headgear had plenty of room to spare and in the time it took to burn a couple rods felt great - my DE always feels like its got a lump on the back of the head. I will keep my DE for a spare IF I can scab in the jackson band.Burned an assortment of rods with it, all just 1F - chunk of plate on the tailgate. 5/32 7024 225ish amps, 3/16 7018 250 amps, 1/4 7018 375 amps, and for grins 1/16 7018 down around 60/70. Puddle was clear in all of them - only possible complaint was on the jet rod. The hood seemed to let a lot more smoke in than some of my other hoods but it could have just been the position/location. Regardless I will be getting one - weldingsupplies from ioc has them pretty cheap but I have never bought anything off of them so still need to do a little research. I prefer to buy local but sometimes its just not cost effective. BTW the guy who bought it was just getting started, as a hobby, with an inherited tombstone.
