TIP: don't throw away your broken files!I took an old broken metal file and welded it to my welding table in an out-of-the-way spot. I use it to grate my soap stone on for a nice sharp point. If I remember, I'll post a picture
Reply:i just use my bench grinder
Reply:I just use whatever is near by. Concrete, rusty steel, grinder, 2 day old stubble...Have we all gone mad?
Reply:Have you ever seen them pencil sharperners made for carpenter pencils? A soapstone fits right in there, makes them super sharp and good for tracing around stencils or templates. the problem is by the time u get a nice point alot of the sopstone gets wasted.Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.
Reply:I use a piece of 80 grit self adhesive paper stuck to the side of my tool box. It's been there now for over 15 years and still sharpens it up. Only problem is I've never had any need to go into the bottom half of my toolbox until lately, I must have 5 lbs of soapstone powder in there. Sotra messy.......Mike
