Got a new helper today

She's pretty young but why wait to start teaching them things. Actually this is my 3 1/2 year old great grandaughter and we are pretty good buddies. If Grandpa is going outside so is she or there is going to be a BIG fuss. We are building a couple of tools to free float an AR 15 and she is cleaning the floor.Break time.I only managed to finish one tool today and have one to go. The weather is supposed to be super nice tomorrow so I may get the whole project finished.

Reply:When my 2nd grand daughter was that age she would spend hours out in the shop with a little hammer and nails and tape and colored pencils. Just stuff. I'd cut up a bunch of strips of duct tape and black tape, give her a stack of small wood drops, hammer, nail, little C clamps, just let her mutter to herself and putter. I never tried to figure out what we were building, just helped when called on. Reply:Makes me think of the times when i was real young and my grandfather would take me into the shop he worked at and let me watch him fix trucks and weld with the o/a. Fun times i can remember it like it was just yesterday. Im sure she will remember hanging out with you the same way. Have fun!

Reply:I really don't get a lot done when she is with me and she is always with me when I'm outside. I keep one eye on her to make sure she's not up to something where she will get hurt and the other on what I'm working on. Somehow that turns into mostly watching her because she's never still. The Energize Bunny would quickly blow a fuse trying to keep up with her. I had to talk her into sitting on the machine long enough to take her picture. I enjoy her so much that it doesn't bother me. I can finish when she goes home.She has a little sister that's only four months old. I'm fortunate to have two beautiful little girls to play with as I enter into my second childhood. I'm already getting my hair "fixed", "makeup" applied, and "tea" served to me regularly. I'll really be busy as soon as the little one starts walking.

Reply:i know what you mean about never getting ought done, my youngest two my boys 4 and my girls 3 are always out in shop with me.my girl even as daddy at home clothes cos she always gets filthy working on the landrovers with me.her fave pressie at xmas was a set of proper spanners.my boys favourite saying everytime we stop to look at something to work it out is " brew time ".
