Hi, I'm looking to get a MiG machine. I have only welded mild steel thus far, but would eventually want to weld aluminum and maybe other metals, but not for awhile.Requirements: Must run 115V AND use gas--I already have a bottle.1. Which machine--please be specific?2. Who has the best price on said machine? Price? Thanks
Reply:I don't think you'll be welding much aluminum with 110v, but for mild steel, the hobart/millermatic 140 is pretty popular[Account Abandoned 8/8/16 Please Do Not Attempt Contact Or Expect A Reply]. See you on YouTube! -ChuckE2009
Reply:millermatic 211.it runs on 110v or 220v. so when you wanna weld aluminum for real you can. you might run into a situation where you have access to 220v. its about 1000. if you dont have that kind of cash (i sure as hell dont right now) id look into millermatic 140, thats about $700 from what ive seen.if $700 is too much id look into hobart which is about $500.if $500 is too much money look into longevity (i guess, or just save)theres a lot of super experienced guys here who know their **** who will chime in. make sure you learn about duty cycle, the differences in the way each machine works.the grand ol' opry aint so grand anymoremiller maxstar 150sworking on an oxy/acet set up
Reply:You'll need two bottles for what you want to do.
Reply:The best 110v mig on the market as far as output power? Millers Passport Plus. It's also the most expensive by far. Millers MM211 would be #2, but it will cost you less since it's not quite as portable. Both these are 110/220v machines so you can move up when you have 220v power and not need to buy a new machine. As mentioned you will not be able to do much alum on 110v power. In fact you won't be able to do much besides sheetmetal with a 110v mig period. On steel all the 110v migs top out at 1/8" under real world conditions with 140 amp class migs, and that includes the HH140, MM140, lincoln's 140 class migs and even the MM211 running on 110v power..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size.
