Hello, everyone I got a quick question about my 180c. I've been using argon for my gas. I recently switched over to CO2 and for some unknown reason I quit getting gas out of my lead. I can hear it coming from out of the machine when I pull my trigger though. Any Ideas? Thanks for any assistance
Reply:I forgot to mention the gauges and regulater were really cold and sweating. I had it set on 35 as well with about a 1,000 pounds still left on the bottle when this hiccup occured.
Reply:Sounds like the reg froze up on you. High flow causes temps to drop as the pressure change from high to low decreases the gas temp. Add humidity to the mix and it's possible to have a reg "freeze" and stop working. Use a blow dryer to warm the reg and decrease your flow and the issue mostlikly will go away. High flow CO2 regs are designed specifically to avoid these issues, but inexpensive regs that come with most migs are designed for argon and don't do well with high flow CO2..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:I don't believe that is it becuase I am getting gas to the inside of the machine to the front or middle right hand side I can hear it blow gas every time I pull trigger but none coming out of lead I even pulled the lead out and still nothing to verify it was not a clogged lead..
Reply:The welder was bought in 09 so I still have a warranty on it. I cost 600.00 buck brand new.
Reply:Make sure your cable is pushed all the way into the power lug and tight. If it is not the gas will escape before getting to the nozzle. If you look inside where the wire goes into the liner, then the liner button should be seated flush against that aluminum roller assembly.

itto on what tapwelder said! You are flowing gas - enough to frost your regulator. You said you can hear it but can't detect any flow at the nozzle. So it's escaping somewhere.I had the same thing happen to me on an Lincoln SP-175 - turned out the cable/hose from the MIG gun to the machine had pulled out slightly from the machine socket. I shoved it in tight and locked down the retaining screw inside the machine. Reply:I getting ready to take it back to the dealer the lead is firmly push as far as possible in the socket the gas is escaping on the other side of the machine from polarity plugs. I will let you all know the out come this afternoon. Thanks for the replys I guess I 'll have to get out the ol ranger 8 stick.
Reply:ALL, It ended up being the hose popped off right before it goes into the lead. We took off the side cover and there it was. Thanks for the help.
