I had posted that my tractor had broken. These are pics of the damage and repair.All done with stick on an XMT304, Hobart 6011 root with an Excalibur Cap.Gouging done with a PM45.My uphill and overhead skills aren't that great. The area of the repair was very difficult to get to and to view with the loader still attached.On the portion underneath and towards the front, it was nearly impossible to get my helmet in there to see.Its a lot of work to detach.I think I'll be ok.

Reply:Your machine doesn't lift 3 tons. There isn't a great deal of strain at that point. I've a feeling it's either vibration or the lack of bracing diagonally supporting this joint. I'd be concerned about contamination of the oil from weld/grind operations. Change oil and filters, a magnetic drain plug or other magnet might be invaluable now. Do these old Wagners use a filter?
Reply:You could always just put a gusset from the bottom of the tube to the upright on the side......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

efinitely looks good enough for a tractor repair . Going around a pipe is certainly difficult.You should see the awful weld repairs that came with my loader...My tractor doesn't even have that cross brace (causes a lot of flex without it). Drf255 - let's see. Plasma gouging, joint preparation, 6011, and 7018 on a 2" ~ 2-1/2" pipe in essentially a constrained "5G" position. Nice approach and execution. That joint's not going anywhere soon. As others have mentioned, a gusset to guard against induced vibration -or- perhaps another circumferential 7018 pass for added fusion into pipe's the vertical (3/8"?) support. o I see a nail at the 3 point hitch? They can go projectile when they shear, more likely, bend something.
Reply:Nice job. If I was doing it I would add a 1/4" gusset that went a few inches above and below the pipe and a few inches out along the pipe on the back side. That would make it pretty well solid. You wanna sell that back blade? LOL. They were re-badged and sold under the Case name, which I collect. Reply:It's an 851. Power steering, stock 6 volt system and a Petronics point conversion in the distributor. 5 speed tranny and the larger gasoline motor (?178ci).I made an error. My disc harrow,loader and double plow are Dearborn Equipment. The grading blade is Danuser.The bucket is new/used from another piece of equipment. Replacing it was what got me into the welding hobby. That was done by a buddy who is a welder with 100% 7018 and a AC/DC buzz box and a Miiller AEAD.Will post pics. Those are bolts holding the implement on the 3 pt hitch. The standard pins with the ring retainer would routinely get caught on a branch and pop off. I found that just dropping a bolt in the holes works quite well. I may a Sell the tractor to Weldermike. I'm up in the air about it. There's nearly zero rust on the loader. When I got it, I sandblasted the entire think and the coated with Rustoleum brown primer followed by safety red. The paint peeled, but the primer stayed adherent. That's the brown you see. Reply:I have a FORD blade that also says Dearborn.Guys tell me that it is a Premium Bonus!There is a set of Dearborn plows in the local paper.Thinking of buying just based on the alleged better quality.As far as the weld, looks GREAT to me!You are right about welding upside down, I don't see as well if I can't get my head in the right spot!
Reply:Attachments worked this AM. Odd.Good job . We delt with lots of failures like that on the farm . I also would suggest some thoughtfully placed gussets .
