Not like this was very complex or a masterpiece by any means, but i figured i would post it. I used the bottom of a stainless container called an "eco-lunch box", but probably any stainless box would work fine. I bought copper screening that is usually used for pest control and a stainless sheet off of amazon, because i couldn't find one anywhere else locally. I got the brass fitting from home depot and brazed it on with harris safetysilv 56 rod. The top is held on by the fittings that held the original top on the lunch box, I tried cutting the stainless sheet with my plasma cutter, but that didn't work well, so i used my bandsaw the second try. I haven't tried this out yet, I may need to run 1/4 copper pipe with some holes in it for the length of the box to diffuse the argon better. Reply:perforated copper sheet is much better to use than the stainless. less of a chance of welding backup box to part being welded, also acts as a heatsink.
Reply:you might also find that the argon flows better without the steel wool. I get the idea but I think in reality it won't do much. (IMHO)Regards,RobGreat Basin WeldingInstagramBlue weldersRed weldersMy luscious Table DIY TIG Torch cooler

Reply:At work we make ours with the inlet tube runs up into box and small holes drilled sideways in tube and the end plugged and there is copper wool inside box like yours because it helps disperse the argon evenly through out the box. I am not sure where to buy the copper sheet. I believe that Jody from welding tips and tricks made a video about backup boxes
