arge three-phase STICK welding machines don't go for very much in NC/SC/GA, but the price is nice for a new one. I bet it sits for a while and could go for even less money.
Reply:Yep, its still available as of this morning. Couldnt I mig with it with a wire feeder? tig too for that matter? I was under the impression this was kind of an old school style power source for multiple applications?
Reply:If you have that much $$ on hand, the BEST question to ask would be to ask the forum to "spec me a system" as they say in computer forums. Suggestions ton how best to fill that amount with welder and accessories will follow.Determine what you want to weld, and what power you have available (220 preferred).

k. I'll bite. Btw, I never asked if I could convert it to single phase power. I have three phase at the shop. So, spec me a system guys. I would like to keep it under 1200 or 1000 but I would go that high if it was an amazing deal. I already have a 250 amp advanced squarewave tig. I used to work for a company (north shore sign service) for about two years when I took a break from the auto industry where I learned to stick weld and did a lot of heavy steel fabrication. Mostly for big signs and billboard attachment systems. It's where I cut my teeth so to speak and I had some very good teachers. So fast forward three years I'm back to working on cars, master technician/L1 diagnostic specialist but my interest and affinity for working with metal has only continued to grow. So I finally bucked up and purchased the tig last year and now I would like to purchase a mig. Here are the criteria. It must have at least 35% duty cycle at 200 amps and must be spoolgun capable. I dont really care what color it is, although the tig I bought is an everlast and I have been extremely happy with it. (flame away) The longevity 205 arcmate is in the running as well as the everlast 205 unit. I would go with one of the higher output 250 units but they are not spoolgun capable. I have been saving since last year to make this purchase and I would like to have something I can depend on but also something I dont have to wait a month and a half after payment for. I would purchase a used unit, but probably only one of the big three.
Reply:well I did some brief browsing on ebay. that machine sounds nice. Very nice in fact. The only ones I could find for less than a grand didnt really include anything. No guns or torches just the power supply. And there's the shipping situation. Most vendor wont ship at all and if they will it seems it's going to be in excess of 300 bones. So there goes my cap and I have a power supply I cant use. Maybe if I lurk long enough I will find one in my area, but where I live now there doesnt seem to be too many people letting go of the tried and true. I'm going to check on the xmt. At least it's inverter based so the shipping might be manageable. Thanks for the help fellas... Keep it coming.
Reply:another machine to consider is powconlook at the SM models stick / migthey can be had cheap
Reply:7a749. Wow. Thanks, man. That is a BOATLOAd of good advice and it is wholeheartedly appreciated. I dont expect a golden egg to materialize beneath me. I am willing to wait too. I have seen a few used equipment wholesalers online and checked them out too. I'll keep checking craigslist in the surrounding areas and see what turns up. thanks so much for all of the advice.

Reply:Well I should say the search is over. I went with my gut and purchased another machine from everlast. I know some guys here have a problem with imported machines but Maybe those guys havent opened their inverters up to see who has their name on the chips. That company has been good to me and even though the machines are imported, the people I have met who sell and service them are right here. So yes, I would rather put a few dollars into the pockets of people I have met and that I respect rather than a rep who I have never met and will never meet except perhaps for a service call to tech support. So the machine I purchased is the everlast power Mig 205. I was going to purchase the 250p but it wasnt in stock. It should be here within the week and I cant wait to get to using it. Thank you guys so much for trying to help me out with this and I look forward to the future on this forum.
