Hi all,Does anyone know what type of connector Lincoln is using on the newer welders like the C300? I want to build an adapter cable for a spool gun I already have. The C300 manual has all the pinouts I need (just 24V and and dry contact outputs from the trigger relay) but I can't find anything out about the actual connector.It's a round connector about 1" in diameter with 3 small lugs or bayonets equally spaced on the outside and 12 pins. It's not the standard 97-series Amphenol like I've seen on many other welders.Thanks!John
Reply:there should be a code number/letters stamped on one side or the other of the plug or receptical if you can see those numbers.. I can find the plug and send u a link for it if you cannot find it yourself. for example my V205T is 18-12, my Powcon is 20-29. these plugs are expensive esp if they are the metal housing ones. I order mine from Mouser. figure $30 to $60 per plug. Reply:Well, it looks like I found it at Digikey:part# PT06A-14-12P(SR)-NDIt's a 12-position bayonet mount MIL SPEC connector with pin arrangement 14-12. I'll let y'all know when for sure when it comes in. Cost is about $37.John
Reply:Hi all,Here is an update on my project. I wanted to build an adapter so my Spoolmatic 1 could work with other welders. Unfortunately, this machine requires a 35V power supply and control module, which I don't have. So I got the schematic from Miller and built an equivalent circuit, tracked down the connectors and hooked up a power supply. Here's what I have so far:Now the only issue I have is that the Lincoln seems to want to run the built-in feeder when I pull the trigger on the spool gun. It's supposed to auto-sense which one is being used. I wonder if I need to add the 5K wire speed control pot (not used with the Spoolmatic) so that it can tell I'm connected? FYI, the welder is a Powerwave C300, and I've already set the P.17 parameter.Thanks!Arclight Attached Images
Reply:That is what you need. I wanted to run my LN-25 pro off of the C-300, and used the spool-gun amptrol to turn the contactor on. oes your C300 still try to feed wire from the built-in feeder? It seems like my homemade control will fire the contactor just fine, but still tries to feed out wire when I pull the trigger on the spool gun. I tried adding the 5K pot that the amptrol would have, and a resistor load for the motor terminals. I wonder if the Lincoln adapters have an extra resistor or something to let the unit know that a spool gun is connected instead of a hand control?Arclight
Reply:The 5 K pot is what auto senses the spool-gun. The only thing my switch box turns on is the contactor, and gas valve. It leaves the feeder motor inside the C-300 dead. I could only run my LN-25 pro in the CC mode (Stick) before I added the 5 k pot. I even wrote the advanced process guys before I set this up. I can't find that e-mail because it had that info in it.. Let me see if I can find you a link of the guy I that built my setup. It was easier for me to have him build it, because he had everything in stock. He probably remembers the info.Call or E-mail....
