Ok so I just bought a xmt304 with autoset I bought it knowing it had a problemwhen I hooked power to it 220 1ph and switch It on it trips the breaker In my panel it's 100amp breaker!  so pulled the cover off and I got my meter out and it appears there's a short from leg to leg after the power switch I'm thinking maybe a contactor but I'm a little scared to get too deep into this thing due the amount of technology inside! Does anyone have an idea of what the problem could be? Reply:Follow the line wires to the line power switch, then to the input power diode assembly.The white and black wires should have low resistance because you are seeing the aux, transformer primary. You can unplug the transformer and retest. The input diode has 6 diodes and one SCR. Look for shorts. SCR gate in 12 to 20 ohms. there is a 200 ohm resister across the SCR. Also look for shorts on the power pcb. check the diodes and IGBTs. Check the contactor screw connections see if any are shorted. all should be open top to bottom. Send me a private message with what you find.There is a diagram on the side of the input diode showing what terminal is what.
Reply:Ok I unplugged the transformer and I still have a dead short between the input contacts I just notced i have two control wires burned out of their connector they come from the gang connector on the right rear of the top control board contacts #6 and 10 the ends burned are on connector rc2 on the side control board near the bottom of the contactors!
