Reply:If this is what we are talking about, the ones from Torchwear are money well spent. Cheers Mike enjoy the weekend. I hate being bi-polar it's awsomeMy Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys
Reply:We had the fire resistant cloth ones at GM. I still have a couple pairs of them and the cloth/Kevlar ones. Great in the summer time, we had to wear either those or a jacket when I worked in Underbody Weld feeding robots. They're nice for light MIG welding if you have a fairly heavy shirt on.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
Reply:I spent 4 years wearing those $%^&*&^%!!!!! things at AK Steel. Hot, cold, rain, or snow we wore them, along with all the other ridiculous PPE they made us parade around in. I can honestly say they didn't do a thing for me in the way of safety. They are however brilliant at catching sparks and molten steal from arc gouging and holding them snuggly while it burns into your arms. They're also great for bunching up in your elbow so you feel like you're crunching a kitten every time you bend your arm especially when its 135 degrees atop of a roll line crane. All in all, they suck. We would take our pocket knives and see if we could cut through them while wearing them, of course. Mill life man, it gets weird... DOWN WITH KEVLAR SLEEVES! unless you sell them, then they're great..Last edited by farmfabrication; 03-20-2015 at 09:02 PM.
Reply:I still have a set or two of the kevlar sleeves I was issued at the plastics factory. They saved me from more than one bad burn.-Spike
Reply:Them things look like Itch City....And prolly snag and run like my knarly hands on pantyhose.I'ma thinkin those OHSA dudes that demand folks wear them get kickbacks from the PPE makers. But that's just me and the way I think. I kinda like my welders tan, yaknow? My splatter scars look like glowing white freckles..You can't tattoo stuff like that on a man.
