So I'm debating buying a beveler and have only used stationery and saddle type. I am curious as to the quality of the chain type, I have used some very poor condition saddle type and some good ones. I have found that the ones that have been dropped cut crooked'er the a dog's member. I have seen some of the chain ones pretty cheap on ebay , couple of Mathey and wonder if they cut straight as they have a much better diameter range for the money. Sound advice from season vet's used both would mean a lot.1997 SA 250

It's not hard cut pipe straight, just clean your tip, when you hear the cutting oxygen making a rattle sound when you depress the lever you know you have your torch clean and set right. The fuel and oxy adjustment nuts keep the torch cutting straight and the cutting head does the angle cut, you just need to watch your speed, depress the lever and follow the chalk line, that's the way we did it in the field unless it was a critical weld. Only fab shops had the machine.

ittle update, I found and bought a Sawyer CS200 on Ebay and found out there were some bushings that were MIA. Incomplete spacers and had the standard job sight paint job. Call into Sawyer they encourage me to send it in for a proper calibration. For 90 bucks I questioned it but after speaking with there head of service1997 SA 250
Reply:I was sold. The machine came back estimated to be over 30 yr old I have know idea of the history but when I tore the machine down it was extremely neglected. Bearings packed with dirt and flat spots. Used the machine for the first time since getting it back and could not be happier, It cuts square and is consistent doesn't try to run away like the shops H&M. For anyone looking to buy a beveling machine I would consider Sawyer they were great to work with and spent time on the phone without hesitation answer all my questions and left me feeling like my decision to try a Sawyer product was a good one. Reply:No I am sorry I bought the beveler for 400 but @ the time being unfamiliar with Sawyer products I didn't realize that there were parts missing other then the spacers. I was dealing with Sara over there and after an exchange of some pic's found out the bushings were out of square and the bearing for the outer ring were wasted. John the head of service explained they set the bushings on a machine surface and for 90 bucks they cleaned and install and set the machine back to factory spec. I have been using a H&M that cuts way out of square and was told by H&M that it would be cheaper to buy a new one. So I was relieved to have not purchased an un serviceable heap and just wanted to share my experience so if anyone was considering Sawyer they could have something to go on.1997 SA 250
