A heavy-duty folding jackstand with indexing from 28" to 45" height, compared to Sumner's at 21" to 36". BlackJack's are TX-forged ~ Made in USA. Looking for any feedback from pipeliners/welders of this BlackJack product. Currently, do not have any $ cost data on the product. Reply:I have the Sumner folding stands, very rugged and well built. The ones I have are the height like the blackjack ones described. When I bought the 4 that I have I saw a few sites that sold them and ended up getting them from my LWS for about 65-70$ a piece. I have used a few different brands and they all seem pretty comparable to me. The one thing I would suggest is getting 4 of them , since you won't know how you ever got along without them.
Reply:id stick w/ the sumners. i mostly have sumners. you might think, well its only a stand, what can go wrong? well, i have the unthinkable go wrong w/ my rigid stands. each stand is suposed to be good for 2000lbs. when i had 16" pipes and heavy other stuff on my stands, the washer thats bound at an angle is whats holding the the weight slips on the rigid stands, it slips cuz the galvaning peels off from the bite of the washer. the vertical galvanized tube, pipe, that extends out of the stand, slowly lowers itself, as the galvanizing gives way, and peels off due to the bite of the washer causing the workpiece to lower. i never trust my rigid stands, i dont crawl under them when in use. i only use my rigids when i run out of sumners.
Reply:I had 6 summer ,2 short and 4 tall loved them .When I was getting rid of most of my heavy tools I sold them ,then I wanted them back they were too useful .

MJD, 123weld, gundog77 - mahalo. Excellent alternatives. The Sumners are solid, reputable, and appear heavy-duty. Zoro has 'em for $80 w/ S&H. Hard to beat.@ gxbxc - perfect! Will contact the site, engage, and counter-offer in an attempt to save $. Made in USA. gxbxc - contacted a-e industrial yesterday. The BlackJacks are 4-6 wks lead time ARO. Really need the stands now for a major build. May have to transition to to Sumners. BlackJack does not carry stock on these products. They build upon receipt of order, hence the long flash-to-bang time."Discovery is to see what everybody else has seen, and to think what nobody else has thought" - Albert Szent-Gyorgyi
