Reply:Ranger 8 is a damn tough machine. I have a bud who pounds his 6 hours a day pushing a suitcase in a quarry doing machinery repair. The Onan end scares me at 700+ hours. 1st thing I'd look at would be the oil for signs of wear on the bearings. Price seems about right, but remember you're less than 6 months out from 2 major auctions in Kisimmee and there will be truckloads of welding machines crossing the block there.I believe you can bring up past sale prices on Yoder & Frey's site for a market indicator. Also check Rock & Dirt.

Reply:I guess location matters, I've used one before and seemed real nice as far as I can remember but people saying 1k or 1200k hours is a lot, seems like a exageration, that's a machine that has a 6 month time span if there correct, I know it ain't a diesel lincoln but in chicago area it would be a fair deal

Reply:2 cylinder Onans (CCK + revisions) love to run forever at 1800 rpm.Anticipated life of the same engine running at 3600 rpm is generally shorter.Crappy oil subtracts even more hours. Onans love to manufacture mayonnaise in the jug, and machines with the vacuum diaphram fuel pump are waiting to grenade.Pull the dipstick and run a welding rod with the end flattened to a paddle to the bottom of the jug and see what the sample looks like.
