bluestar160 2 e.    I have rebuilt whg-16-1 carb. new fuel, cleaned tank, sea foamed it will run at idle speed though surging and will run at full throttle only with choke nearly full  ,checked for manifold and head leaks.          I am at my wits end.  HELPLast edited by 7A749; 11-03-2015 at 10:21 PM.
Reply:Exactly how was the carb rebuilt?  Just taken apart and sprayed down with carb & choke cleaner or soaked in a carb/parts cleaner for a couple hours or more, rinsed and blown out with compressed air?Sounds like a restricted/plugged high speed circuit in the carb.BTW, why do you title all your threads "don milligan"?  As such, one doesn't know what the topic is that you're talking about in each one without opening them.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!
Reply:sorry  about title. I rebuilt with new kit, blew out with carb  cleaner all areas as well as compressed air. used guitar wire to assure unstopped, ran off and on with sea foam and put it in fuel tank . removed cooling cowl and checked for leaks, found none using starting fluid and carb, cleaner. runs smooth with throttle wide open and near closed choke . Idles with choke open, roughly and surges.I have taken it to a (expert) .few mechanics want to fool it with because of being attached to  a welder.THANKS Don
Reply:Carb cleaner in a spray can isn't going to cut it if corrosion and varnish is blocking circuit passages as I suspect is the case.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:Timely question .  I had a similar issue with my walbro carb.  Cleaned it almost identicals to Don's method.  Read this thread.  Took carb to shop yesterday , soaked it in kerosene for an hour, then blew it out with compressed air.  Installed it this morning.  Works perfect.

Reply:If you have to have the choke on for the machine to run properly, it's starving for fuel. Is there a dirty fuel filter on the fuel system somewhere?JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720

Reply:Then there is still a fuel restriction in the carb somewhere. Another thing to check is if the float height is set properly.JasonLincoln Idealarc 250 stick/tigThermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52Miller Bobcat 250Torchmate CNC tableThermal Arc Hefty 2Ironworkers Local 720

Replydon milligan- Miller Bluestar 160 2E Need Help!amn. That's sucks. I've had a couple of those stuck in cylinder heads and just left them out of fear of breaking something I couldn't easily fix. Being broken, I can understand trying to take it out. I had a 36" pipe wrench on one once after applying heat and Kroil. It wasn't moving. Even with a cheater on the handle of the wrench. I ended up leaving it the way it was. Fortunately it wasn't damaged, it just looked like crap.I hope it's not as bad as it appears.Post up what you find Don.Expert Garage Hack....https://www.facebook.com/steven.webber.948
